Almost 200 kms will be necessary for us to arrive to our first important stop, Selcuk and Ephesus for its archeological site.
Selcuk est une petite ville très agréable. On s'y sent bien et ses habitants décontractés et accueillants. Entourée de collines plantées d'oliviers et autre bois, Selcuk est juste à 3 kms d'Ephese et à 7 kms du bord de la mer. On y visitera la basilique Saint-Jean et la forteresse byzantine d'Ayasuluk et la mosquée d'Isa Bey. On y apprendra que c'est dans la forteresse que Saint-Jean âgé alors de 90 ans écrira l'évangile et l'Apocalypse. Pas très loin d'ici, en haut des montagnes entourant Selcuk, on peut visiter la maison de Marie qui vécue pendant plus de 20 ans avec Saint-Jean. L'histoire n'est-elle pas passionnante ?
Selcuk is a very pleasant small city. You feel good, its inhabitants very welcoming. Surrounded by hills with olive trees mainly, Selcuk is only 3 kms away from Ephesus and 7 kms away from the sea. We have visited the Basilic of Saint John and the byzantin fortress of Ayasuluk as well as the Mosque of Isa Bey. We have learnt that in fortress, Saint-John, aged 90 years ago, wrote the bible and the Apocalypse. Not very far from here, at the top of mountains, you can visit the House of Mary who lived there for over 20 years with Saint-John. Isn't history fascinating?

La palme revient cependant à Ephese. Un site éblouissant, un must à faire absolument, une parenthèse fabuleuse dans l'histoire. A découvrir : tout . Plus concrètement, le grand théâtre, la voie sacrée, la rue de marbre, la bibliothèque de Celsius, la rue des Courétes, les maisons en terrasses, etc. Prévoyez 3 à 4 heures, voir plus...et quelques bouteilles d'eau indispensables.
However, the most interesting remains Ephesus. An amazing site, a must-see. Everything has to be discovered. Most precisely, the Theater, the Sacred Street, the Marble Street, the Library of Celsius, The Couretes Street, the Houses in Terrasses. Plan 3-4 hours, even more... and a few necessary bottles of water!

Selcuk nous a permis aussi de déguster la succulente cuisine turque ( à ne pas comparer avec la cuisine grecque ) et d'expérimenter encore une fois la gentillesse de ses habitants...et l'appel de la prière.
Selcuk has introduced us to the delicious Turkish food (not to be compared with the Greek food) and to experiment the hospitality of its inhabitants... and the call for praying.
Et on boit du the ! ...and we drink tea!
Bref, on aime.
In short, we love it!
