Blackpool...une ville qui pourrait s'apparenter à certaines villes américaines, une ville sans âme, terne, qui semble s'asphyxier dans un décor artificiel. Une fête foraine géante qui s'étend sur des kilomètres le long du bord de mer. La rue parcourant celle-ci est remplie de gens "qui aimeraient bien avoir l'air mais qui n'ont pas l'air du tout" ( Jacques Brel ) comme des âmes à la dérive. A mes yeux, une cause perdue d'avance...
Comme d'habitude, nous avions écouté les recommandations d'un local et cette fois, nous n'aurions pas dû... Nous y sommes quand même restés une nuit... mais on s'est empressé de repartir.

Ulverston, une petite ville au Nord de l'Angleterre. Si la ville n'a rien d'extraordinaire, elle possède un musée assez unique en mémoire de Laurel et Hardy.
Laurel et Hardy, ce sont 2 comiques, c'est encore les films en noir et blanc. Bref, si la ville a son propre musée , ce n'est pas une excentricité de ses élus mais plutôt pour rappeler aux visiteurs que Laurel (Arthur Stanley Jefferson) est né, ici, à Ulverston le 16 juin 1890.

Si nous nous sommes établis non loin d'Ulverston, ce fut en fait pour être proche du parc national Lake District, un paradis de 2280 km2 de lacs et de montagnes pour les amateurs de tourisme vert.

Puisque nous voulions parcourir en moto le parc, Hardknott Pass nous paraissait comme évident. 30 % de dénivelé, route minuscule, déformée, sinueuse, visibilité limitée voir totalement absente, virages en épingle à cheveux...Sensations assurées. Et comme dirait Fred, un parcours de GS.
As we wanted to explore the Park on our motorcycle, Hardknott Pass was a must-do. 30% steep, tiny road and in bad condition, curvy with limited visibility or none at all with hairpins.
Some great sensations and as Fred would say, a real GS road !

Whinlatter Pass fut une autre expérience mais plus techniquement simple. Au final, nous avons passé presque une semaine à parcourir cette superbe région.
