Hanoi-Cat Ba : pour rejoinder notre destination, il nous faudra prendre 3 bus différents, et un bateau-bus et un peu de patience c'est à dire presque 6 heures pour parcourir 180 kilomètres même si nous n'avons eu aucun temps d'arrêt entre chaque bus...même pas une pause pipi.
Hanoi-Cat Ba : To reach our destination, we will need to take 3 different buses and a boat, a little patience to browse180 kms and 6 hours even if we had no time between each bus... not even to pee...
Pourquoi Cat Ba ? Cat Ba est une île proche de la baie d'Halong et surtout moins touristique qu'Halong, donc un peu plus vraie, un peu plus authentique. Pourtant, la petite ville de Cat Ba se transforme depuis quelques années en construction de béton. Il semble que toute la population veuille profiter de la manne touristique et chacun se veut être hôtelier, restaurateur, vendeur de "tout ce qui se vend". L'ambiance y est pourtant très agréable, le site splendide ( à nos yeux), et la baie de Cat Ba toute en couleur.
Why Cat Ba ? Cat Ba is an island very close to the Halong Bay and not as touristic, therefore more authentic. However, the small city of Cat Ba has been changing for a few years and there are many cement new buildings. It appears that the population wants to take its share of the money brought by tourist and everyone is opening a restaurant, a cafe, a hotel. The ambiance is still very nice, the view great and the Cat Ba Bay very colourful.

Le plus beau reste la croisière. Les possibilités sont larges, allant de quelques heures, en passant par la journée ou 2 jours une nuit, ou encore 3 jours 2 nuits.
Nous optons pour une croisière d'une journée. Pour se faire, nous avions choisi une compagnie qui sort un peu des sentiers battus et qui offrait également une ballade dans le dédale de karsts en passant par la baie d'Halong en plus d'une sortie en kayak et d'une baignade dans les eaux tièdes de la mer de Chine du Sud.
The most beautiful is seen during the cruise. You have many possibilities, from a few hours in one day or two days and one night, or 3 days 2 nights. We choose the one day cruise. We select a company that does not quite follow the touristic ways and which offered an outing through the karsts in the Halong bay with an outing in Kayak and swimming in the lukewarm waters of the sea of South China.

Pas beaux les amoureux? 
Le bateau, un nombre très raisonnable de touristes ( moins d'une vingtaine ) venus de différentes partie de notre globe, un guide local très attentif et très sympathique firent de cette journée un moment mémorable de notre voyage au Vietnam. Le cadre superbe dans lequel nous naviguerons suffirent à nous émerveiller de cet endroit unique.
In the boat, a very reasonable number of tourists (less than 20) who came from different areas of the world, a local guide, friendly and eager to please, have made this a memorable moment of our trip in Vietnam. It is truly superb and we are silent face with this unique beauty.
Cat Ba est aussi le paradis des scooters. Pas chers, très pratiques, faciles à conduire, ils sont indispensables pour découvrir tranquillement l'île au rythme de la vie insulaire. Nous profiterons donc d'une journée supplementaire pour aller visiter le Parc National de Cat Ba et monter au ''Sommet'' pour profiter d'autres vues. Bonjour l'humidité dans la foret tropicale!... un point positif, pas besoin de nettoyage de peau! Hammam naturel!
Cat Ba is also the paradise for scooters. Cheap, very convenient and easy to ride, they are a must to discover the island. We will therefore enjoy another day to go visit the National Park of Cat Ba and reach the ''Peak'' to enjoy other views. The humidity is very intense in the jungle... a positive point, no need to clean your skin! Natural Hammam!

Le séjour ici tirant à sa fin, il nous fallait prendre une décision pour choisir notre prochain point de chute. Pas facile, rien au Vietnam n'est rapide, du moins dans la partie nord de ce pays. Notre prochaine étape : Danang.
Danang c'est 13 heures de train presqu'autant en bus-couchette à partir de Ninh Binh, ville à 3.5 heures de Cat Ba...ou 1 heure d'avion à partir de Hanoi.
Ce fut notre choix pour un coût sensiblement identique au coût du train.
We had to decide then how we would reach the next city on our itinerary. Not easy, in Vietnam, nothing is fast at least in the north. We want to go to Danang. Danang is located about 13 hours by train or almost the same in a bus from Ninh Binh, located 3.5 hours from Cat Ba... or one hour by plane from Hanoi. This is what we did in the end for a price slightly higher than the train.
