On change de décor, de pays, d'heure. Adieu notre chère et sympathique Malaisie, bonjour Thaïlande.
We change scenery, country, time. Good bye friendly Malaysia, hello Thailand.

De Langkawi, c'est facile de rejoindre notre futur point de chute, l'ile thaïlandaise Lipe ou Koh Lipe. Il faut prendre un bateau, un "speed boat" autrement dit un bateau rapide pour aller sur cette ile aux parfums paradisiaques. Durée 3 heures. La suite fut assez inattendue mais l'expérience très intéressante. 
From Langkawi, it's easy to go to our next destination, the Thai island of Koh Lipe. You just need to take a speed boat which will take you to this paradise like island. 3 hours. We were surprised but found the arrival interesting.

L'arrivée à Koh Lipe se fait sur un débarcadère situé en pleine mer à une centaine de mètres de la terre ferme. C'est sur une mer mouvementée que nous débarquons non sans aide pour re embarquer tout de suite de l'autre côté de l'embarcadère sur ces fameux bateaux appelés "long boats" ou bateaux taxi. En fait, si l'arrivée sur l'île paraît complexe c'est juste une question de profondeur d'eau. De toutes façons, l'expérience en vaut la peine sans doute à cause de cette couleur incroyablement limpide de cette mer invitante et de ses sables blancs, tellement blancs qu'ils en sont éblouissants. Et là, je n'ai pas encore parlé des fonds marins, des poissons de toutes les tailles, de toutes les couleurs, d'oursins géants, bref quelque chose qui n'existe pas mais qui n'existe. ( lol ).
The arrival on the island takes place on a pier located about 100 meters away from the shore. On an agitated sea, we climb aboard a long tail boat, the local taxi. In fact, the reason we have to go through these motions is due to the fact that the waters there are very shallow. It's great to see this clear water, this inviting sea, the white sands which are so white that you are blinded. And this is not to mention the bottom of the sea with its multi-coloured fishes, its giant ursines.

Le débarquement se finira quand même les pieds dans l'eau. 10 mètres de plage plus en avant, c'est la douane. Pas de stress, ici, c'est la vie insulaire au soleil parmi les palmiers, cocotiers. Un douanier, pas plus. On nous avait promis 15 jours de visa...tout faux, nous aurons 30 jours.
We will still end up with our feet in the water. 10 meters later, we reach the customs office. No stress, we are on an island with coconut trees. One customs officer, that's enough. We thought we would get a 15 day visa. In the end, we get 30 days, which is great.

Nous prendrons le taxi ( une moto taxi ) adaptée aux rues très étroites de l'île pour nous rendre à notre hôtel et à un distributeur de billets, (il nous fallait des bahts pour payer notre taxi ) le tout pour 100 bahts, soit 4 dollars canadiens. Rendu à notre hôtel, situé quasiment sur la plage et à quelques centaines de mètres d'où on venait juste de débarquer, on sait dit que tout de même les chauffeurs de moto-taxis avaient du bien rigolé. Autrement dit, nous aurions pu aller à notre hôtel à pied sans autre aide. Il est à noter que nous avions quand même pris le temps de demander où se trouvait notre hôtel...oh, loin, besoin taxi...disaient-ils...trop fort, ces thaïlandais.
We will take a moto taxi, well suited for the narrow streets of the island (we needed baths to pay our taxi). 100 baths for the taxi, 4 Canadian dollars. Our hotel was situated a few hundred meters from where we got off the boat. The taxi drivers must have laughed. We could have walked there! We had asked where it was and they said : Far, need taxi.

Koh Lipe est une ile simplement magnifique avec son sable blanc, son eau cristalline, ses poissons exotiques splendides, ses bateaux aux couleurs gaies certes bruyants mais absolument indispensables, son ambiance sympa. Bref, se mettre à faire des notes dans ce contexte relève d'une volonté de fer et dans mon cas, ma volonté a fondu comme neige au soleil...et ça durera 3 jours. 
Koh Lipe is a magnificent island with its white sandy beaches , it's christal clear waters, its coloured though noisy long tail boats (although necessary) and it's relaxing atmosphere. To write for the blog there requires an iron will, and I will admit that my will melted like snow in the sun!

Ko Lanta

Pour beaucoup, Ko Lanta représente peut être un rêve de destination, pour d'autres, l'île représente une émission de télé-réalité du même nom. Pour faire les choses simples, on précisera que cette émission en question a été filmé sur une autre ile qui s'appelle Ko Rock. 

For many, Ko Lanta is like a dream destination. For others, the island represents a TV reality show with the same name. In fact, this TV show was filmed on another island, Ko Rock.

Alors, Ko Lanta, c'est le soleil, la mer, la vie paisible. Ici, on y vient en famille, en couple, en célibataire pour passer du bon temps. Faut dire qu'ici, les plages de sable fin, ce n'est pas ce qui manque. Nous, on y passera presqu'une semaine et nous en profiterons pour nous remettre en forme, natation et course à pied...mais, dur, dur la course à pied. La chaleur même à 7 heures ou 8 heures du matin se fait vraiment sentir et ce n'est vraiment pas évident de dépasser plus de 5 à 6 kilomètres.

Ko Lanta means the sun, the sea and a quiet life. People come here with their families, or in couples, as singles to have a good time. We will spend almost a week there and once again we try to stay fit by swimming and running. Running is quite a challenge again in the heat, even at 7 or 8 am. It's tough to run just. 5-6 kilometres.

Pour une journée, on louera un scooter, histoire de découvrir l'île à notre rythme. Nous ferons aussi une sortie bateau pour toute une journée pour aller découvrir quatre autres îles, faire du snorkeling. Bon, pour être tout à fait honnête, on s'attendait à voir des fonds marins un peu comme à Ko Lipe et là, nous fûmes déçus.

We will rent a scooter for one day, in order to discover the island. We will also take a one day snorkelling trip on 4 islands. A little bit disappointed as we were expecting better marine life.

Rencontre tres sympathique avec Guy et Marie-Claude avec lesquels nous partagerons expérience de voyage sur la plage et au restaurant local.

And we met another lovely French couple, guy and Marie-Claude with whom we will share our trip experiences either on the beach or in the local restaurant.
