De Vérone (Italie) à Porec, Vorinj, Pula et Opatija, Croatie (Sept 12-16, 2024) - From Verone (Italy) to Porec, Vorinj, Pula and Opatija, Croatia (Sept12-16, 2024)

Déjà fini l'Italie pour cette fois et pour aujourd'hui, destination Croatie. La Croatie, nous y étions déjà venue en 2015 en voiture et nous nous étions promis d'y revenir en moto pour voyager le long de la côte et profiter des petites routes. Cela avait été un passage rapide, une semaine environ pour visiter le parc national des chutes de Plitvice, les chutes de Krka et Dubrovnic. A l'époque, nous utilisions encore Le Kuna pour payer mais depuis la Croatie est passée l'euro en janvier 2023. La Croatie, c'est  3 millions 986 mille habitants et le revenu moyen brut est de 1,300 euros par mois (en 2015, revenu moyen brut de 1,000 euros par mois). Already finished in Italy for this time; today, we head to Croatia. Croatia, we had been there in 2015 with a car and we had promised to come back with our motorcycle to ride along the coastline and enjoy the small roads. It had been a quick stay, about a week to visit the National Park of Plitvice, the Krka waterfalls and Dubrovnic. At the time, the Kuna was still used to pay, but since then, in January 2023, Croatia has been using the Euro. Croatia counts 3 millions 986 thousands inhabitants. The average gross revenue is 1.300 euros per month (in 2015, it was about 1.000 euros per month).

Nous avons pris la route hier matin un peu avant 9 heures, route très occupée, village après village pendant au moins 100 kms, les 100 kms suivants, cela avançait mieux mais rien d'exceptionnel. Nous traversons un petit bout de la Slovénie par une toute petite route à tel point que nous nous demandions ou elle allait nous amener. Et finalement, nous arrivons vers 17 heures à Porec, un peu fatigués mais notre appartement est assez sympa. We left at around 9 am yesterday morning, the road was very busy with villages after villages for at least 100 kms. The next 100K, it was going a little bit faster, but nothing special. We cross a very small part of Slovenia through a very tiny road, so tiny we wonder where it is going to lead us. In the end, we arrive in Porec at 5pm, a little bit tired, but our apartment is nice.

La température n'est pas vraiment de la partie toutefois, 18 degrés seulement. Pas le courage d'aller faire des courses et nous décidons de nous offrir un petit restaurant. C'est une taverne située à 50 mètres de l'appartement. Très sympathique avec une décoration originale et typique. Nous mangeons pâtes avec sauce aux truffes et jarret d'agneau sauce au vin, très bon ! The temperature is again not that great, only 18 degrees. Too tired to go shopping, therefore we decide to enjoy and go to a restaurant.  A tavern is located 50 meters away from the condo. Very quaint with an original and authentic decoration. We eat pasta with a trufle sauce and lamb chunk with a wine sauce, very good !

Aujourd'hui, course à pied jusqu'à Porec, le long du bord de mer. Un peu plus de 10 Kilomètres pour moi et plus de 14 kilomètres pour Alain. Il s'est perdu au retour... Visite l'après-midi de Porec. C'est samedi alors assez occupé avec pas mal de touristes. Ce n'est pas une ville qui se prête beaucoup aux photos mais c'est agréable d'y flâner. Today, morning run until Porec along the the seashore. A little bit over 10K for me and over 14K for Alain. He got lost on his way back... In the afternoon, we visit Porec. It's Saturday and fairly busy with many tourists. It's not a very photogenic city, but it's nice to wander around.

Ce matin, 8.5K en course ! Petite sieste de 25 minutes et cette fois, nous nous rendons à Rovinj. Stationnement hyper facile dans le centre ville historique au bord de la mer Adriatique. Un coup de coeur pour nous, une petite ville assez pitoresque et authentique avec d'innombrables terrasses de restaurants et cafés en bord de mer, des petites ruelles étroites et colorées, des places spacieuses et animées. Une église domine la ville, bref, cela vaut la visite. Another 8.5K run this morning ! A 25 minute nap, and this time, we go to Rovinj. We park easily in the historical center close to the Adriatic sea. We love this small town, a picturesque and authentic city with many restaurant and coffee patios along the sea, with many tiny narrow and colored streets, and animated spacious squares. A church overtowers the city. In short, worth visiting !

Au retour, petit arrêt au retour au fjord de Lim ! On our way back, we stop at the Lim fjord !

Nouveau départ ce matin pour Pula, la ville la plus importante de la région d'Istrie. C'est seulement à 80 kms de Porec, nous arrivons donc une nouvelle fois de bonne heure dans un petit studio très coquet. La moto est à l'abri sous une tonnelle chargée de beaux raisins rouge. Pula est une ville assez industrielle notamment avec un très grand chantier naval. L'intérêt principal de la ville réside dans son arena. C'est l'un des amphithéatres romains le mieux préservé et est le 6ième plus grand dans le monde. Il pouvait contenir jusqu'à 20,000 spectateurs. Il a été construit au 1er siècle pendant le reigne de l'empereur Vespasian. We left this morning to go visit Pula, the largest city of the Istrie region. It's only 80 kms away from Porec, we therefore arrive quite early in a quaint studio. The motorcycle is parked under a loaded with red wines. Pula is a fairly industrial city with a very large shipyard. The main monument in Pula is its arana. It's one of the best preserved Roman amphitheaters, the sixth largest in the world. It could host up to 20,000 spectators. It was built in the 1st century during the reign of Emperor Vespasian.

Pula est une ville située dans le sud de la péninsule de l'Istrie, qui fut habitée dès la préhistoire. Cette ville devint un port romain important et administrait les territoires qui l'entouraient. Pula is a city located in the south of the Istrian Peninsula, and was inhabited as early as prehistory. This city became an important Roman port administering the surrounding territories.

Le Palais Communal et à gauche, le temple d'Auguste (ci-dessus). Le Temple d'Auguste est le plus vieux batiment en Croatie. Il fut érigé pendant le reigne du premier empereur romain, Auguste. The city palace and on the left, the Augustus Temple (above). Le temple d'Augustus is the oldest preserved building in Croatia. It was built during the reign of the first Roman emperor Augustus. 

Un peu déçus par cette petite ville, qui n'a vraiment d'intérêt que si vous aimez l'histoire romaine. Les arènes sont quand même magnifiques ! La rue principale commerçante est assez touristique quand même, nous en faisons le tour en deux heures. Comme dirait mon petit mari: Quand y'en a Pula, y'en a pas forcément pour l'autre. Vous reconnaitrez tous son humour ! A little bit disappointed by this small town which presents an interest only if you enjoy Roman history. The arena is however stunning ! The main street is fairly touristic. We go around the city within a couple of hours. 

Demain, nous repartons pour Opatija...Une jolie route avec quelques virages, puis nous longeons le bord de mer. Tomorrow, we are going to Opatija... A pretty road with a few curves, then along the seashore.

Nous arrivons vers midi à Opatija mais notre appartement n'est pas encore prêt. Pas grave, nous déchargeons quand même nos affaires et allons faire nos petites courses à pied. Un très joli appartement bien équippé nous attend...We arrive in Opatija at around noon, but our apartment is not quite ready. It's okay, we are still able to offload our luggage, and go grocery shopping. It's quite a lovely apartment.

A notre retour, nous nous installons et l'après-midi est consacré à Opatija. Nous en sommes à 3.5 kms à pied et c'est une charmante ballade tout au bord de la mer qui nous y conduit. Très joli bord de mer avec des propriétés et des hotels magnifiques. Bref une journée très agréable et bien remplie entre plaisirs de motards et visite touristique. We are finally able to settle in and we spend the afternoon in Opatija. We are located 3.5K on foot away from the center and it's a leisury walk on the sea front which leads us there. Very pretty water front with magnificient properties and hotels. In short, another great day filled with the pleasures of riding a motorcycle and touristic visits.
