Dinan, notre premier vrai coup de coeur pendant ce voyage ! une petite ville qui mérite amplement le détour. Bien qu'elle soit touristique, il y a une véritable vie locale et nous profitons du marché et prenons notre temps pour déambuler dans les petites rues historiques. Dinan, our first ''must see'' during this trip ! a small town really worth to go out of your way. Although it is touristic, people do live here and we enjoy strolling on the market place and in the small historical streets.

Pendant notre voyage, on essaie le plus de fromages possible, et cette fois, c'est la maugette, en forme de haricot ! During our trip, we are trying as many cheeses as possible, and this time, it is called ''maugette'' with the form of a bean !

En route, petite halte à Auray - Le 4 décembre 1776, débarqua à Auray Benjamin Franklin envoyé en France par les Etats-Unis pour négocier la première alliance entre les deux pays. On our way, we stop in Auray. On December 4, 1776, Benjamin Franklin arrived in France. He was sent by the United States to negotiate the first alliance between both countries.

Nous voici arrivés en Vendée. Tout simplement contents de retrouver la bonne humeur et l'entrain de Didier et Joëlle. La nourriture tient une place importante dans notre séjour. Nous faisons de longues promenades digestives en bord de mer. We have now arrived in Vendée. Just happy to be with Didier and Joëlle. Food is an important part of our stay in France and we take long digestive walks along the sea.

St-Malo, Cap de Grouin, Cancale, Dinard, Cap Frehel et Fort Lalatte (Jan. 25 & 26, 2022)

Après la Normandie, c'est la Bretagne avec tout d'abord St-Malo : Cela change du temps d'hier au Mont Saint-Michel. On se gèle! Pourtant, il fait 5 degrés mais l'humidité est terrible et le froid nous transperce. On a même l'onglée... After Normandy, we are now in Normandy with St-Malo to start : different weather from yesterday at the Mont Saint-Michel. We are freezing. It's 5 degrees but the humidity is awful and we feel the cold to the bones. Our fingers are numb...

Le 20 avril 1534, Jacques Cartier quite Saint Malo pour son premier voyage vers l'Ouest, à la découverte du passage vers la Chine. April 20th, 1534, Jacques Cartier sailed from Saint-Malo to the west expecting to find a passage to China.

 Bien que nous marchions, nous n'arrivons pas à nous réchauffer, alors ce midi, on décide d'aller se réchauffer en mangeant une petite galette bretonne. Nous essayons aussi un cidre rosé, un peu trop sucré à notre goût.  Although we walk through the city, we are not getting any warmer. Therefore, for lunch, we decide to eat a buckwheat pancake. We try a pink cider, a little bit too sweet to our taste.

Cap Frehel: Dommage que nos photos soient un peu fades, il fait encore gris mais les eaux sont vert émeraude. Too bad that our pictures are a little dull, it's still very grey outside but the water of the sea is as green as an emerald.

Dinard

Une très jolie balade le long de la côte à Dinard - a nice walk on the seawall in Dinard

Et des femmes font du longe-côtes, bien courageuses  vu la température- and women practice sea walking, needs some courage considering the low temperature

Cap Frehel et Fort Lalatte: Nous continuons à faire de longues marches sur les sentiers de randonnée de la côte qui est magnifique ! Cap Frehel et Fort Lalatte: We continue to walk on the coastal trail and the view is breathtaking!

Nouvelle petite marche et nous arrivons à Fort Lalatte - Malheureusement, il est fermé et nous ne pouvons pas le visiter. Another short walk and we arrive in Fort Lalatte - Unfortunately, it is closed; therefore, we cannot visit it.

Notre séjour dans ce coin de Bretagne s'achève. Nous prenons la route demain vers Dinan pour nous diriger ensuite en Vendée afin de voir mon frère, Didier et sa conjointe, Joëlle. Our stay in this part of Brittany comes to an end. We will go to Dinan tomorrow to head afterwards to Vendée to see my brother, Didier and his girlfriend, Joëlle.
