And we are again visiting the small villages of France. We are in Correze.
Collonges-la-Rouge, one of the prettiest village of France offers an original and interesting show, because of the colors of its stones and by its patrimony. Red from the sandstone with nuances of ocre, blue like its slates, green like its vineyards hanging from its walls, it's like a dream village.
Unfortunately, in the 19th century, the village gets sleepy and many houses are in ruins. However, some movie makers like the village for its historical contents and some artists start coming here. Soon the tourists arrive as well.

The Calquieres: it's the name that was given to the former tanneries. They can be recognized because of their wooden balconies. Over the River Lot, the large flat stones were used to wash the skins. This industry has continued until the First World War.

And we arrive in Rocamadour:
From the road, suddenly, Rocamadour appears in front of you. This vertical village, built on different levels, with the cliff directly below, hangs 150 meters above the Canyon of the Alzou River.

This small village with 630 inhabitants is one of the most visited site in France. You enter through the fortified gate of the Fig Tree before reaching the street of ''la Couronnerie'', the unique and very lively street of Rocamadour.

Rocamadour's history starts mysteriously. Nothing gives us a hint why pilgrims started to come here as early as the 9th century. No document exists on this, nor on the identity of the body which was found intact on the entrance of the Notre-Dame Church.

The Gard Bridge is the highest Aqueduc-Bridge from the Roman Empire built in only 5 years. This bridge, part of the World Heritage by UNESCO since 1985, enabled the inhabitants of Nimes to have running water for 5 centuries, except that it was 2000 years ago. This bridge is the largest antic bridge ever built (360 meters long, 50 meters high on 3 levels). A little downside is the price to go see this bridge (about 10 euros per person) even if the museum and the site are stunning !

September 6-7: Moustiers Sainte Marie, another pretty village of France which is famous because of its geographical location, its 135 meter long chain with its 1.25 meter wide star in the middle since the 11th century between 2 cliffs and because of its earthenware.

The Verdon Canyon (2nd largest Canyon in the world after Grand Canyon in the US). It was supposed to be a short and easy ride. Wrong ! We rode them on the south Shore, then on the North Shore and as we did not have enough, we rode them through the top or rather the Crest Road. This is a must see. Everything is beautiful, the road, just pleasure for a biker. The view are spectacular. In the end, over 200 kms. Just wow ! Cliffs from 250 to 700 meters rise over the Verdon from Moustiers Sainte-Marie to Castellane.
